MISSION statement:

We are a group of Catholics, some of whom are ordained, brought together by our love of Christ's Church and our anxiety about its future. Still inspired by the Second Vatican Council, we want to contribute fully to the life of our Church so that we may be a more effective sign of the Kingdom of God. To do this, we believe that an atmosphere of openness and dialogue both with each other and with our church leadership needs developing. Accordingly, we aim to supply channels of free and frank communication. We desire to help create a climate of trust and respect for all where this dialogue may be fostered.

THEOLOGY statement:

ACTA is a movement built from below by clergy and laity alike in every diocese in England and Wales. It exists to give those people an effective voice. It is an instrument to establish and promote space for a trusting dialogue within a hierarchically structured people’s Church.

ACTA believes that the reforms of the Second Vatican Council are the only way forward for mission to modern society. It is not a small chapel of selected followers; it believes in the Church as a “big tent”, with open doors. As a free and representative association of believers, it seeks to liberate the expertise in the ranks, so as to bring added energy and witness to the Church in the world.

Living Laudato Si' Your Parish and Your Planet Zoom Retreat, led from Boarbank Hall, Cumbria, takes place on 22nd-25th January 2021.

Speakers include: Trish Sandbach, who worked in Oxfam Education for many years and led to St Benedict's, Garforth, in the Leeds diocese, to winning a Livesimply award. She is also an assessor for the LiveSimply award.

The Global Catholic Movement invites you to “Global Healing.”
In 2015, Pope Francis published his ground-breaking letter on the environment Laudato Si’. Since then, millions of people worldwide have joined the global movement to address the environmental crisis our world is facing. This Lent, we are inviting YOU to join us for a series of reflective evenings with inspiring speakers, prayer and discussion, using the film-based resource “Global Healing”. These engaging documentaries will inform and challenge people to respond to Pope Francis’ call to Care for Our Common Home. Suitable for all who are concerned about what is happening to our world and who want to take action.

Msgr. Tomáš Halík ThD (1948) is a professor of philosophy and sociology of religion at Charles University in Prague and president of the Czech Christian Academy. During the communist era, he worked as a secretly ordained priest in the so-called underground church. He is a recipient of the Templeton Prize and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Oxford and Erfurt. His books have been translated into twenty languages.
