An exciting opportunity has arisen following our recent National Conference. Dr Anna Abram, the Principal of the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology in Cambridge, spoke to that gathering about Ecclesial Ethics. Her talk gave rise to a lot of interest, with the result that she has invited us to create a working group on the subject. She is prepared to help with an initial meeting, symposium or brain-storming day session at her institute. She suggests a diverse group of representatives of professions who are familiar with professional ethics, theologians, Church leaders, representatives of the Bishops' Conference etc.

This important topic is about nothing less than a reform of the management of the Catholic Church, both locally and nationally.  If you have a professional background - even if you have never attended an ACTA meeting, but simply lend your name to our register of supporters - please consider getting involved.

The laity's voice is vital if we want a more participatory role in the decision-making processes of our church. What about wages in the church? treatment of employees - their rights and duties? decisions about investments? parish reconfiguration? staff development and pastoral ministry?  We are all involved.

Your offer to participate does not require you to be representing any diocesan or parish group. We are hoping for people with the appropriate skills to offer their time independently. If we have a very large number of offers, the Leadership team will consult with Dr Abram about how to proceed. Unfortunately we are not able to fund expenses.
